Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a part-time Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Registered to perform diagnostic tests on pulmonary and cardiovascular systems, including ECG and cardiac catheterization, while maintaining equipment and documentation. Qualifications

• RCIS or RCES or RTR certification is required.
• Graduate of an accredited program; RCIS or RCES registration required within six (6) months of hire.
• Graduate from a non-accredited program in electrophysiology or invasive cardiovascular technology; RCIS or RCES within 18 months; one year of work experience to be eligible for the registry exam.
• Graduate from a certificate/degree program in Respiratory Therapy, LPN, Echo Tech, Paramedic or Electrophysiologists; RCIS within 2 years.
• Minimum of three years of allied health experience in an acute care setting and Cardiac Cath Lab/EP/Radiology or Neuro interventional procedures; RCIS within 2 years.
• BLS certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, analyzes, obtains, calculates and documents data from procedures; alerts physician to abnormalities.
• Explains testing procedures to patients to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
• Prepares diagnostic procedure reports for physician interpretation.
• Observes data on imaging equipment during cardiovascular exams.
• Assists physician during cardiac cath lab procedures including angioplasty.
• Performs ECG, phonocardiogram, echocardiogram and other tests to record cardiac activity.
• Prepares and positions patients for testing.
• Obtains patient history and test results; maintains records.
• Maintains and repairs cardiology equipment; ensures proper operation.
• Completes quality assurance and complies with regulatory standards.
• Keeps documentation and logs in paper and electronic formats.
• Attends workshops and engages in continuing professional development.
• Performs other related duties as required.

Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Registered

Position Summary: Conducts tests on pulmonary or cardiovascular systems of patients for diagnostic purposes. May conduct or assist in electrocardiograms, cardiac catheterizations, pulmonary-functions, lung capacity, and similar tests. Maintains equipment; records test results. Follows department policies and protocols.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities as Assigned:

1. Monitors, analyzes, obtains, calculates and documents data obtained in procedures. Alerts physician to abnormalities or changes in patient responses.
2. Explains testing procedures to patient to obtain cooperation and reduce anxiety.
3. Prepares reports of diagnostic procedures for interpretation by physician.
4. Observes gauges, recorder and video screens of data analysis system during imaging of cardiovascular system.
5. Assists the physician during cardiac cath lab procedures including angioplasty procedures.
6. Conducts electrocardiogram, phonocardiogram, echocardiogram, stress testing and other cardiovascular tests to record patients' cardiac activity using specialized electronic test equipment, recording devices, and laboratory instruments.
7. Prepares and positions patients for testing.
8. Obtains and records patient identification, medical history and test results.
9. Checks, tests and maintains cardiology equipment making minor repairs when necessary to ensure proper operation.
10. Completes quality assurance processes and practices. Complies with all Joint Commission, federal, state and local regulatory laws, standards and protocols.
11. Maintains all required documentation, logs, charts, forms and records in paper and electronic formats.
12. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
13. Performs other related duties as required and directed.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) OR Registered Radiological Technologist (RTR).
• Graduate of an accredited program, and Registration as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) by Cardiovascular Credentialing International required within six (6) months of hire.
• Graduate from a non-accredited program in either electrophysiology or invasive cardiovascular technology. Obtain either RCIS or RCES registration within 18 months of graduation. One year of work experience is required to be eligible for the registry exam.
• Graduate of a certificate or degree granting program or post-secondary educational program in Respiratory Therapy, LPN, or Echo Tech, Paramedic and Electrophysiologists. Must obtain RCIS certification within 2 years.
• Minimum of three years of allied health experience in an acute care setting and Cardiac Cath Lab, EP, Radiology Specials, or Neuro Interventional Procedures experience required. Must obtain RCIS certification within 2 years.
• BLS certification.

Preferred:

• Previous experience working in an invasive cardiovascular environment.
