Job description

Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Cardiovascular/Electrophysiology Laboratory Manager and according to established protocols, this role involves clinical and technical assistance in invasive and non-invasive cardiac catheterization/electrophysiology procedures. Responsibilities include setting up, operating, and maintaining specialized equipment, ensuring patient safety and comfort, assisting physicians, acquiring and recording data, and participating in process improvement activities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Cardiac Catheterization:
  • Set up, activate, and check all monitoring and recording equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Balance and calibrate equipment such as hemodynamic recorders, blood gas apparatus, transducers, and cardiac output computers.
  • Operate biomedical equipment to monitor patient status, including digital angiography, ECG, blood gas analysis, contrast injectors, and fluoroscopy equipment.
  • Maintain and operate x-ray and cineangiography equipment, including processing cine films.
  • Assess equipment functionality and notify management of malfunctions.
  • Record and analyze data, monitor hemodynamic status, and alert physicians to changes.
  • Transport patients as needed and prepare the lab with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and quality standards.
  • Participate in research activities.
  • Electrophysiology:
    • Perform technical operations for routine and advanced electrophysiology procedures, including monitoring and diagnostic testing.
    • Manage and troubleshoot complex EP equipment, including mapping, ultrasound, x-ray, ablation, and device programming systems.
    • Assist with room preparation, documentation, and sterile procedures.
    • Transport patients and equipment as needed and assist during device implant procedures.
    Additional Information:

    Qualifications: Associate degree in an allied health field or accredited program certification; licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, RCIS, or RCES; BLS and ACLS certifications within 3 months.

    Experience: At least 1 year in a Cardiac Cath Lab, Electrophysiology Lab, or Interventional Radiology Lab, with demonstrated technical skills and knowledge of cardiovascular physiology.

    Physical & Environmental Requirements: Ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift and transfer patients and equipment, and work safely in a lab environment with radiation and electrical hazards.

    Other:

    Performs independently within policies; no supervisory responsibilities.
