Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Cardiovascular/Electrophysiology Laboratory Manager and according to established protocols, assists clinically and technically in invasive and non-invasive cardiac catheterization/electrophysiology procedures utilizing specialized equipment while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Sets up, operates, and maintains specialized physiological systems and instrumentation used for patient monitoring during procedures. May assist physicians in preparing and performing procedures. Acquires, enters, and records data, performs tests and calculations, and shares essential information through documentation and verbal communication. Participates in continuous process improvement activities in the unit.

Responsibilities
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Cardiac Catheterization
  • Set up, activate, and check all monitoring and recording equipment necessary for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Operate biomedical equipment such as hemodynamic recorders, blood gas apparatus, transducers, and cardiac output computers.
  • Maintain and operate fluoroscopy and radiologic equipment, including x-ray darkroom functions.
  • Record and maintain raw data, perform calculations, and monitor patient hemodynamic status.
  • Transport patients as needed and assist in lab setup and cleanup.
Electrophysiology
  • Perform routine and advanced electrophysiology procedures, including monitoring and diagnostic testing.
  • Manage complex EP equipment, troubleshoot, and repair as needed.
  • Assist in procedural activities, documentation, and patient transport.
Other Information
  • Requires an associate degree in an accredited health-related field or equivalent certification.
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist or RCIS/RCES certification required.
  • Certification in BLS and ACLS within 3 months of hire.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a related lab setting.
  • Knowledge of cardiovascular physiology, sterile techniques, and advanced ECG interpretation.
  • Physical ability to assist with patient and equipment transport and stand during procedures.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements

Works in a lab and surgical area with exposure to hazards, requiring walking, standing, lifting, and carrying.

Independent Action

Performs independently within department policies, referring complex issues to supervisors.
