Job summary

Chippenham Hospital is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join our pharmacy team in Richmond, VA. This role delivers clinical pharmacy services, improves medication use, and participates in committees and education across service lines.

The ideal candidate has hospital pharmacy experience, ACPE-accredited degree, and BCPS or PGY1 residency; strong communication and leadership skills are essential for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
Experience using word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems.
Interest/knowledge in pathophysiology and pharmacotherapy for the service.
Minimum 1 year hospital pharmacy experience and one of the following OR two of the following: at least 2 years hospital experience; completion of 1 year PGY1 residency; BCPS.

Responsibilities

Provide at least two inservices per year on rational medication therapy and procedures.
Mentor and train peers and residents within service lines.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary team; provide backup support across service lines.
Maintain active presence on patient care units (80% of shift).
Participate in service-line committees and clinical initiatives.
Serve as primary preceptor for pharmacy students and residents.
Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients and families.
Participate in national pharmacy societies; present or publish clinical information.
Monitor drug therapy for contraindications and interactions.
Contribute to formulary management and drug information.
