Albany Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery team in a full-time role, with responsibilities across inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination. The position supports a 24/7 in-house coverage model with flexible shifts.

Qualified candidates will have an accredited PA program graduate status, active PA license, and CT surgery experience. The role emphasizes ICU management, perioperative care, and collaboration with surgical and critical care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with current NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgical or hospital-based acute care (CT Surgery preferred).
• Skilled in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU, including ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT.
• Serve as first and second assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including endoscopic vein/radial harvesting.
• Perform bedside procedures: thoracentesis, central/arterial line placement, chest tube insertion/removal.
• Manage preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care, including consults and discharge planning.
• Conduct daily rounds, write progress notes, and lead care coordination efforts.
• Collaborate with cardiothoracic surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and clinical teams.
