Albany Medical Center is seeking a Physician Assistant to join the Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination across the hospital. This full-time role offers a high-acuity surgical setting and broader medical responsibilities.

The ideal candidate has NCCPA certification, an active PA license, prescriptive authority, and 2+ years in surgical acute care or ICU workflows, with strong teamwork and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years of surgical or hospital-based acute care experience (CT Surgery preferred).
• Experienced in ICU management and invasive bedside procedures.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, pathophysiology, pharmacology, and medical-surgical care.
• Excellent clinical judgment, teamwork, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in the Cardiothoracic ICU, including those on ECMO, Impella, IABP, and CRRT.
• Serve as first and second assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including harvesting techniques.
• Perform bedside procedures such as thoracentesis, line placement, chest tube procedures.
• Manage preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care and discharge planning.
• Conduct daily rounds, write progress notes, and lead care coordination efforts.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and clinical teams for high-quality outcomes.
