Job summary

Albany Medical Center is seeking a skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant to join our Cardiothoracic Surgery team, with responsibilities across inpatient care and multidisciplinary coordination in a high-acuity surgical setting. The PA will provide ICU care, assist in CT surgery, perform bedside procedures, manage preop to postoperative care, and lead rounds with clinical teams.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited PA program with NCCPA certification.
• Active state PA license and prescriptive authority.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in surgical or acute care setting; CT Surgery preferred.
• Strong ICU management and invasive bedside procedures knowledge.
• Excellent clinical judgment and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to critically ill patients in Cardiothoracic ICU, including ECMO/Impella/IABP/CRRT.
• Serve as first/second assist in cardiothoracic procedures, including endoscopic vein/artery harvesting.
• Perform bedside procedures such as thoracentesis, line placements, chest tube insertion/removal.
• Manage preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care with consults and discharge planning.
• Conduct daily rounds, write progress notes, and lead care coordination.
• Collaborate with surgeons, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and clinical teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
