Job summary

Amgen Inc. in the United States seeks a Clinical Development Director to lead early-phase programs from first-in-human to proof-of-concept, shaping protocols, study start-up, data review, and risk assessment.

The role requires MD/DO and substantial drug development experience, with leadership in matrix teams and collaboration with internal and external partners to advance cardiometabolic/general medicine programs.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school AND
• Board certification or eligible
• Residency training in Cardiology, Internal Medicine or relevant subspecialty
• 4+ years of relevant drug development experience in pharma/academia, preferably in early stage trials
• Experience collaborating with pharmaceutical sponsors
• Experience designing, monitoring and implementing clinical trials and interpreting trial results
• Demonstrated leadership qualities; capable of conducting studies as part of a team
• Experience within a matrix environment, contributes to decision-making and alignment to meet timelines
• Publication track record
• Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; able to communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners

Responsibilities

• Contribute to early clinical development strategy for cardiometabolic/general medicine candidates
• Prepare clinical development plans, protocols, informed consents, Investigator Brochures, and regulatory submissions
• Review and evaluate safety, efficacy, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic data
• Contribute to biomarker strategy to facilitate drug development
• Collaborate with internal teams and external experts to guide development
• Evaluate external licensing/partnering opportunities in cardiometabolic/general medicine
• Assist external experts to provide biomedical guidance to Early Development teams
