Job summary

University of Kansas Medical Center in Olathe is seeking a Cardiology Technician to support procedures in the Cardiac Lab. The role includes patient prep, assisting with sheath pulls under RN direction, and providing essential care before, during, and after cardiac procedures.

You will perform ECG readings, obtain vital signs, transport patients, maintain equipment, stock rooms and respond to call lights. This part‑time position requires a High School diploma or GED and BLS certification; CNA or

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED
• BLS (AHA) certification
• Healthcare experience or CNA preferred
• Phlebotomy experience helpful

Responsibilities

• Assist in transporting patients to nursing units.
• Assist with patient preps (pre and post exam).
• Complete electrocardiograph readings on patients as requested.
• Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of equipment and restocks supplies.
• Perform sheath pulls under the direction of RN, as needed per department.
• Prepare Cardiac Procedure rooms by ensuring adequate stock is available.
• Obtain Vital Signs per unit standards and report abnormal values to RN immediately.
• Assist in answering call lights in a timely manner.
• Assist in settling the patient upon return to their room post procedure (hooking patient back up to vital signs, making sure call light is within reach, water and menu are in patient room).
• Takes call on their assigned weekends and Holidays
• Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Position Summary / Career Interest:

Under the direction of a supervising nurse or other team member, the Cardiology Technician performs patient care functions for patients undergoing procedures in the Cardiac Lab and/or Cardiovascular Procedure areas. These functions may include sheath pulls, ECGs, prepping patients for procedure and providing avariety of specialized duties in the Cardiac Procedural Areas.

Required Education and Experience

• High School Graduate or GED

Preferred Education and Experience

• CNA
• Phlebotomy Experience

Required Licensure and Certification

• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)

Preferred Licensure and Certification

• Certified Nurse Aide / Assistant (CNA) - State Department for Aging and Disability Services (KS), Department of Health & Senior Services (MO) - Includes licenses for all other states
