Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
• Requires about 2 years of medical clerical experience; preferably in hospital central scheduling or physician office scheduling.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is required.
• Knowledge of payor contract terms and processes.
• Excellent organizational, human relations and communication skills; ability to meet deadlines and productivity standards.
• Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet software and the computerized scheduling system; maintain accurate statistics.

Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical, cardiovascular or obstetrical procedures in a computerized scheduling system; verify physician privilege status.
• Acquire authorizations, H&Ps, lab results; obtain prior records for procedures.
• Type and print physician orders; schedule and maintain block time.
• Enter physician orders for labs, imaging, and charges; compile data and produce reports.
• Conduct charge management audits and correct missed or incorrect charges.
