Job summary

The Registered Nurse at North Oaks Medical Center is primarily responsible for his/her patients, adhering to NOMC standards and the nursing service philosophy. The nurse serves as a resource to the health care team and communicates effectively with patients and families.

This PRN - As Needed Cardiology position requires cardiac care experience, EKG knowledge, and the ability to lift and transport patients; shifts include days with weekend/holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Must be currently licensed by the State Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Previous Cardiac Training with EKG knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• General Nursing: insure the maintenance of quality patient care.

Shift: days including weekends and holidays (4-hour shifts on weekends approximately every 4-5 weeks) (One or Two 4-hour shift holidays per year)

Summary:
The Registered Nurse at North Oaks Medical Center is primarily responsible for his/her patients. They shall possess the qualities most exemplary of the nursing profession. These qualities include compassion, empathy, accountability, honesty, together with the knowledge and skills they have learned within their nursing education. The Registered Nurse shall adhere to the Standards of Practice of NOMC. The registered nurse is a member of the health care team and is responsible for providing quality nursing care utilizing NOMC standards of care. Will uphold the philosophy and objectives of Nursing Service. Is a resource person for other members of the health care team. Responsible for patient care. Will utilize effective communication between personnel, physicians, other hospital departments, patients and families.

Responsibilities

• General Nursing :
• 1.Insure the maintenance of quality patient care.
• A.Utilize nursing process (assess, plan, implement and evaluate) for each patient on an individual basis.
• B.Assist with QA audits.

Cardiology/ Cardiac Rehab Job Specific Duties

• 1. Work under the supervision of a cardiologist treating critically ill cardiovascular patients including those recovering from bypass, pacemaker or angioplasty heart surgery.
• 2. Perform stress testing, EKG, Holter Monitors, Event Recorders, bubble studies and other cardiac diagnostic testing as needed.
• 3. Teach postoperative cardiovascular rehabilitation activities to the patient and family, such as postoperative home care needs; necessary changes in diet, nutrition and exercise to improve heart health; and how to administer heart medication and recommended physical therapy at home.
• 4. Maintain competency recognizing abnormal and/or lethal cardiac rhythms.
• 5. Maintain competency for pharmaceuticals used in performing chemical stress tests.
• 6. Perform other duties as requested.
• 7. Follows North Oaks Health System’s Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines.
• 8. Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act and the Rules and Regulations of the LA State Board of Nursing.
