Job summary

Origin Travel Nurses is looking for a Cardiology Registered Nurse (RN) to join their team in Larkspur, California. The RN will be responsible for coordinating patient care in the Cardiology Clinic, educating patients on their cardiovascular conditions, and assisting with patient discharge medications.

The ideal candidate should have a BSN degree, at least two years of experience in a cardiovascular setting, and must hold a current California RN license. This role also involves participating in Transition of Care Management and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Job description

The Cardiology Registered Nurse (RN) collaborates within a team environment to coordinate patient care in the Cardiology Clinic, encompassing various areas including the Cardiology Clinic, EP/Afib Clinic, and Testing Center. This role involves nursing assessment, problem identification, reporting of complex clinical data to the appropriate EP/Cardiologist, and implementing the patient’s plan of care as directed by the provider.

Responsibilities
  • Provide pre and post-operative education for Cardiology and EP procedures.
  • Educate patients about their cardiovascular condition and explain treatment options as directed by the cardiologist or electrophysiologist.
  • Teach patients strategies for preventing the worsening of cardiovascular conditions and the importance of self-monitoring, while providing appropriate resources.
  • Triage patients’ physical symptoms and arrhythmias appropriately and consult with cardiologists or electrophysiologists as per protocol.
  • Cover RN Testing Center and Cardiac PET CT Imaging procedures when needed.
  • Participate in Transition of Care Management to ensure discharge medications and instructions are understood by patients and/or family members.
  • Update medication and problem lists in the Electronic Health Record and ensure follow-up with cardiologists.
  • Review daily lab/test results, physician tasks, and clinical worklists as assigned.
  • Assist the Nurse Supervisor and/or Director with nursing practices and participate in the development of policies and protocols for patient care.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Engage in personal professional development as required for continuing education.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • BSN degree highly preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in a cardiovascular clinic and/or hospital nursing.
  • Two years’ experience in a critical care or cardiac inpatient unit preferred.
  • Two years’ experience with telemetry monitoring preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse California license.
  • Maintains BLS and ACLS certification.
