Qualifications

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of relevant and current experience required.

Responsibilities

• Education – Participate in identifying and meeting learning needs of self; attend education programs based on identified needs; use patient education materials; assess readiness to learn of patient/family/caregivers; assess developmental level and factors affecting ability to learn.
• Evaluation of Care – Identify expected patient outcomes; seek guidance for plan of care revision; participate in interdisciplinary discussions; communicate relevant information to promote continuity of care.
• Implementation – Demonstrate competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects; perform bedside point‑of‑care testing as required; utilize organization and nursing standards, policies and procedures; organize and prioritize care; consult resources in a timely fashion for complex care issues or high‑risk discharge planning.
• Leadership – With assistance develop goals for professional growth or to minimize limitations; achieve goals within timeframe or renegotiate with supervisor; know activities that promote intra/inter‑departmental collaboration; participate in unit goal development and performance improvement; use communication systems effectively; promote cost‑effective care; give feedback to co‑workers; understand public policy and regulatory guidelines; promote a safe, clean, secure environment.
• Patient Assessment – Recognize data from complex situations to determine care priorities; address physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs; synthesize assessment data; anticipate discharge needs; develop relationships that empower families.
• Planning – Collaborate with patient/family to prepare or update care plan; use multidisciplinary resources; communicate planning; address cultural and ethnic issues; prioritize tasks for complex problems.
• Research – Read applicable journals; bring ideas and questions to staff for assessment of applicability.
