Job summary

Novant Health is seeking a psychologist to join the cardiology institute, splitting time between acute and ambulatory settings. The role includes diagnostic evaluations, psychotherapy for LVAD and heart failure patients, and crisis de-escalation within a multidisciplinary team.

Duties extend to non-billable support for team dynamics, program growth, and emotional debriefing after patient deaths. NC licensure and doctoral degree are required, with strong collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• PhD, PsyD or EdD in clinical or counseling psychology is required.
• Experience supervising or collaborating with licensed psychologists or psychiatrists is preferred.
• Knowledge of APA standards and patient confidentiality regulations is expected.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic evaluations and psychotherapy for heart failure patients.
• Conduct pre- and post-psychological evaluations for LVAD patients.
• Offer crisis de-escalation and curbside consultations as part of a multidisciplinary team.
