Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a Medical Assistant to perform clinical and administrative duties in an ambulatory care setting under the supervision of a physician/provider. Duties include venipuncture, vaccines, vital signs, assisting providers, and EMR documentation across multiple sites.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED; completion of an accredited MA program is preferred. CMA/RMA within 12 months and CPR within 90 days are required or anticipated.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Experience in ambulatory care is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies, procedures, and safety standards.
• Assists providers with patient preparation for examination and with the examination and education of patients.
• Screens patients for preventative care needs, barriers to care, safety concerns, and fall risk; supports care transitions.
• Performs point-of-care testing, venipuncture, and administers vaccines per site requirements.
• Documents clinical activities accurately in the EMR and participates in data collection for quality and safety initiatives.
