Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC invites a Medical Assistant to join the Cardiology department in a full-time capacity. The role covers patient rooming, vitals, charting, lab work, injections, vaccines, and coordination with physicians.

The schedule runs Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week, with standard benefits and training opportunities. The ideal candidate will have a High School diploma or GED and MA training; some sites accept military training in lieu of formal education.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or DD214 in lieu of a formal MA program.
• IL/WI divisions require High School Diploma or GED plus MA program or 2 years MA experience in last 5 years.
• Wake Forest: High School Diploma or GED; completion of MA program or EMT training.
• Floyd & Navicent: High School Diploma or GED plus MA program or 2 years MA experience.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to Medical Assistant scope of practice and policies.
• Performs rooming/visit tasks: vitals, history, screenings, reconciliation.
• Assists provider with procedures as ordered.
• Performs lab duties including venipuncture and POCT per CLIA standards.
• Administers medications and vaccines safely.
• Handles refills, authorizations, scheduling, and referrals.
• Cross trained for duties within MA scope.
• Communicates effectively and escalates when needed.
• Maintains clean, stocked work environment.
• Assesses age-specific needs and adapts care accordingly.
