Job summary

Capital Health is seeking a dedicated RN First Assistant to provide perioperative support in cardiovascular and vascular procedures at our New Jersey facilities. The role includes assisting with positioning, exposure, hemostasis, and suction, while collaborating with surgeons and the broader care team to optimize outcomes.

You will work in a high-acuity Cardiovascular ICU and on the general floor, supporting patient care before, during, and after surgery.

Qualifications

• First Assist during cardiac/vascular procedures to ensure patient safety.
• Collaborate with physicians to provide care on General Floor and SICU.
• Manage patients in CVICU with conversion from open or PCI with cardiology teams.

Responsibilities

• Serve as First Assist during cardiac and vascular surgeries.
• Collaborate with attending physicians for patient care.
• Monitor and manage CVICU patients post-procedure.
• Educate patients and families about care plans.
• Assist with positioning, prepping, and draping of patients.
• Assist surgeon with tissue retraction and hemostasis.
• Ensure proper exposure of anatomy and protect non-ligated structures.
• Assist in incision closure and wound care.
