Qualifications

• Associate's degree preferred in cardiovascular sonography.

Responsibilities

• Obtains a complete and current patient history for the exam.
• Performs quality echocardiogram and vascular studies for diagnostic evaluation.
• Obtains all views required for processing.
• Inputs notes and history at completion of the exam.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Notifies the floor if a prior echocardiogram was done within six months.
• Follows safety measures and uses two patient identifiers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

• Obtains a complete and current history of the patient and the reason for the exam.
• Performs quality echocardiogram and vascular studies for adequate diagnostic evaluation by the reading physicians.
• Obtains all views required for processing.
• Inputs notes and history at the completion of the exam.
• Inputs data at the completion of the exam.
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment.
• Checks practitioner orders for accuracy and clarify with offices, floors, or physicians as needed.
• Notifies the floor if the patient has had an echocardiogram within the past six months.
• Utilizes all safety measures provided for the department and individual technologists.
• Always uses two types of patient identifiers, such as name and date of birth.
• Assures proper positioning, technique, and protocol for each exam.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
