Job summary

UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a qualified cardiac ultrasound technologist to perform comprehensive cardiac ultrasound studies for inpatient and outpatient populations. The role focuses on image acquisition, patient preparation, and post-procedure care within a dynamic educational environment.

Candidate must hold an associate degree or equivalent ultrasound program, be eligible for ARDMS/CCI registry within one year, and have at least one year of hospital-based experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 12-month ultrasound program completed within 3 months of hire.
• ARDMS/CCI registry or registry eligible and registered within 1 year of hire.
• One year minimum experience in acute hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Performs cardiac ultrasound evaluations.
• Attends weekly department educational conferences.
• Communicates urgent exam findings to Cardiologist and routes studies for interpretation.
• Obtains pertinent patient health history prior to examination.
• Prepares procedure room and maintains equipment.
• Identifies and reports any equipment issues.
• May teach students and co-workers in cardiology.

Education

Associate’s degree in Sonography or Radiology or related field OR Completion of a twelve (12) month ultrasound program
