Job summary

Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is seeking a part-time Telemetry/EKG Technician for the Emergency Department. You will monitor and interpret patient EKGs on telemetry and assist with admission/discharge from central monitoring.

The role requires high school completion or GED, CPR certification, and preferred 12 months of arrhythmia interpretation. Shifts include day coverage with 7a7p scheduling and 24 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret basic EKG rhythm; CPR certification required.
• 12 months of arrhythmia interpretation preferred.
• Successful completion of Basic EKG exam within first 12 weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor and interpret EKGs of patients on telemetry.
• Admit and discharge patients from central monitoring.
• Interpret and alert team members of EKG rhythms.
• Notify staff for lead wires off, electrode and battery changes and proper lead placement.
• Maintain communication logs and document rhythm changes.
• Provide documentation for the medical record of rhythm changes.
• Document EKG strips during routine and emergency interventions.
• Promote patient safety by reporting issues and supporting safety initiatives.
• Assist with transporting specimens or other non-specified needs.
