Job summary

The Charlie Norwood VA Medical Center is seeking a Health Technician (Telemetry Monitor) to join Nursing Service and provide continuous cardiac monitoring under RN supervision. The incumbent will perform age-appropriate assessment, evaluation and documentation of EKG rhythms and patient status.

This position includes rotating shifts (7:00pm–7:30am) with six 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift per pay period; telework is not authorized. Relocation incentives are not authorized.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 in the normal progression.
• Experience monitoring cardiac rate, rhythm, and conduction at a monitoring station.
• Ability to measure and interpret EKG rhythm strips and report changes.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous cardiac monitoring at a monitoring station.
• Measure, print, and interpret rhythms; report abnormal rhythms.
• Validate alarms and respond to life-threatening conditions; document findings.
