Job summary

DCH Health System is seeking a Cardiac Monitor Technician to continuously observe telemetry monitors, alert nursing staff to rhythm changes, and maintain patient logs with accurate rhythm documentation.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with PCA/US or LPN experience preferred and BLS within 90 days. Cardiac telemetry training and rhythm interpretation completion is expected on hire.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent (GED) required.
• 1 year of PCA/US or LPN experience or similar clinical experience preferred.
• BLS required or achieved within first 90 days of employment.
• Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
• Upon hire, successful completion of Cardiac Telemetry Monitoring training course and EKG rhythm interpretation.
• 100% on recognition of life-threatening dysrhythmias; 80% overall is required to pass the exam; yearly refresher class and quarterly testing.

Responsibilities

• Observe cardiac monitoring status for all patients and ensure coverage during breaks.
• Notify RN of rhythm changes and alarms immediately.
• Maintain and validate patient and monitor data at shift handoffs.
• Perform monitor counts and escalate equipment issues per protocol.
• Document rhythm interpretations and updates to the patient log.
