Job summary

Atlantic Health System is seeking a Telemetry Monitor Technician to join our special care unit team. You will watch patient heart rhythms, identify variances, and respond to alarms to support timely medical assessment by the nursing staff.

The position requires a HS Diploma and completion of Basic Arrhythmia coursework, with preference for prior monitor tech experience and strong critical thinking. You will document findings and coordinate with the supervising nurse to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma and completion of Basic Arrhythmia course required.
• Telemetry pre-test must be passed.
• Preferred: ability to exercise critical thinking and work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances.
• Observes screen of cardiac monitor and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm.
• Informs supervisor or General Duty Nurse of variances to initiate examination of patient.
• Measures length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout, using calipers, and posts information on patient records.
• Answers calls for assistance from patients and inquiries concerning patients from medical staff.
• Prepares documentation regarding evaluation results, progress reports, and personalized treatment plans.
• May perform relevant duties as needed.
