Job summary

Responsibilities include operating cardiac monitoring systems, maintaining patient census, handling handoffs, and assisting with rhythm interpretation and event labeling.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with healthcare experience.
• One year of experience as a Nursing Assistant or first semester of RN/LPN program.
• Health-related degree or one year of patient care experience in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Observe ECG monitors and report findings to staff.
• Operate cardiac monitoring systems and dysrhythmia detection.
• Maintain accurate patient log and monitor status.
• Provide/receive handoffs for monitor data.
• Manage admissions/discharges from telemetry.
• Maintain unit census.
• Respond to monitor room phone lines.
• Coordinate with code blue team during codes.
• Assist rhythm interpretation and dysrhythmia detection.
• Label monitor strips for significant events.
• Troubleshoot monitoring equipment.
• Maintain supplies inventory for monitoring.
• Clean and maintain monitoring equipment.
• Escalate to biomedical engineering when necessary.
