Job summary

MercyOne's 7 North (7N) is a specialized cardiac telemetry unit caring for patients recovering from cardiovascular surgery, including CABG and TAVR. RNs provide expert care, manage chest tubes, central lines, and temporary pacemakers, and coordinate with case managers for discharge planning.

The role emphasizes assessment, care planning, and collaboration across disciplines to improve patient outcomes and length of stay. Full-time position with comprehensive nursing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Provides and directs safe, effective, and culturally competent care for patients with acute medical and surgical conditions.
• Utilizes critical thinking to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based care.
• Communicates with physicians, patients and families, and the interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Conducts an initial assessment to gather data.
• Makes an initial assessment of new admissions within 30 minutes of arrival.
• Completes admission assessment within 24 hours.
• Develops outcome-based care plans from identified problems.
• Assigns and coordinates patient care with team members.
• Implements and documents plan of care and discharge planning.
• Communicates progress and updates to physicians and team.
• Ensures medication safety and policy adherence.
