Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Patient Care Technician to support nurses with basic patient care activities and daily living tasks on the unit. The role involves monitoring vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output.

Under RN supervision, you will report changes to staff, maintain clean environments, and help manage unit workflow. BLS certification is required for this position.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA, CMA, EMT, or nursing student with one semester of clinical completed.
• American Heart Association BLS required.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (bathing, grooming, eating).
• Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Keeps patient rooms clean and orderly.
• Demonstrates flexibility, organization and multitasking under stress.
• Utilizes critical thinking to prioritize unit tasks as needs change.
• Serves as liaison between patient care units and other departments.
• Answers phones, intercoms and call lights with appropriate etiquette.
