Job summary

The Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Inc. is seeking a Physician Assistant for the Cardiac Surgery service. This per diem role supports the 24/7 PA-run service in the cardiac surgery ICU and step-down units, working with cardiac surgeons and ICU staff. The position offers a per diem schedule with shift length of 13 hours.

Responsibilities include patient assessment, plan development, diagnostic testing, and documentation. Requires PA licensure in MA and prior ICU/cardiac surgery experience.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Physician Assistant required.
• MA PA license required.
• Experience as a licensed PA in cardiac surgery or related field.
• Strong ability to take histories and interpret findings.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct care, counseling, and teaching to a designated patient population.
• Performs complete histories and physical examinations.
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates laboratory and diagnostic tests.
• Develops appropriate plans of care and follow-up.
• Orders medications and writes prescriptions according to policies.
• Documents thoroughly including admission, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
