Job summary

St. Elizabeth Healthcare seeks an advanced practice provider (PA-C or NP) to serve as a dedicated first assist in complex cardiac surgeries. The role involves perioperative patient care, operative assistance, and intraoperative decision making guided by surgeon direction.

Experience with RNFA or demonstrated first assist capability is highly valued, with opportunities for inpatient, outpatient, and on-call coverage across the cardiac surgery service.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program or an APRN program with national certification.
• Licensure as PA-C or NP with state authority to practice and required CME.
• RNFA experience or proficient first assist experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and perioperative planning for cardiac surgery patients.
• Perform case-related duties as first assist under surgeon supervision.
• Place lines, assist with cannulation, wound closure, and operative prep.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in postoperative rounds and discharge planning.
