Qualifications

• Graduation from Accredited program (PA or ACNP).
• RN First Assistant program required for nurse practitioners.
• 5 years' experience in cardiac surgery care preferred.
• Minimum of two years' operating room experience.
• Licensed Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner + RN First Assist in the District of Columbia required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care in the cardiac surgery operating room.
• Review patient charts and medical history for preoperative planning.
• Recognize abnormalities in electrocardiograms and take appropriate actions.
• Perform mid-line sternotomy technique and assist in surgeries.
• Harvest conduits for coronary artery bypass grafting.
• Teach and mentor less experienced staff.
