Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center in Mason City, IA is seeking a Registered Nurse for a full-time Day Shift position (36 hours weekly). You will deliver direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team, using the nursing process and professional standards.

The role requires current Iowa RN licensure or a multi-state license, and graduation from an accredited RN program. BSN is preferred; acute care experience is a plus, with training provided for new grads.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure in the state of Iowa, or qualified multi-state license.
• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
• Previous experience in acute care preferred but not required.
• Will train new RN graduates.
• Ability to work on multiple projects at one time and flexibility to meet department needs.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and evaluates the patient’s physical, psychosocial, environmental, spiritual, social and education needs and documents responses with the multidisciplinary team.
• Develops and implements patient’s plan of care, including discharge planning, based on standards and patient needs; updates plan with condition changes.
• Guides and directs patient care activities utilizing clinical/critical thinking and evidence-based practice.
• Provides daily direction to Nurse Assistant.
• Provides and facilitates teaching to meet educational needs of patient/family.
• Communicates pertinent patient changes to colleagues and other caregivers.
