Job summary

Providence Medical Center in Kansas City, KS is seeking a Stepdown Registered Nurse to care for patients recovering from cardiac procedures, surgeries, or events, providing intermediate care between ICU and the general floor.

Responsibilities include monitoring cardiac status and telemetry, administering medications, educating patients and families, and coordinating care. The role requires 12-hour day shifts, full-time status, and immediate readiness for emergencies.

Qualifications

• Must have current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.
• BLS upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS within 30 days of hire and maintained current.
• Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cardiac status, vital signs, and telemetry data to detect changes.
• Administer medications as prescribed, including IV and cardiac meds.
• Perform physical assessments, review histories, and evaluate symptoms.
• Educate patients and families about cardiac conditions, treatment plans, and self-care.
• Respond promptly to cardiac emergencies, including CPR and defibrillation as needed.
