Novant Health is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer I for the Huntersville Medical Center echo lab. You will perform transthoracic and transesophageal echoes, maintain equipment, and contribute to quality improvement in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; 2-year/associate degree preferred.
• Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program accredited by CAAHEP preferred.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or RC S; new grads have 6 months to obtain registry.

Schedule: 32 hrs/wk with full-benefits, Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday, 7am-5:30pm typically, but flexible could work 3-10's or 4-9's, rotates holidays/call. Call is one day/week.

What You'll Do

The Cardiac Sonographer I is responsible for daily operations of the echo lab, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality improvement. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the anatomy and pathology. The sonographer is proficient in performing basic transthoracic echoes and transesophageal echoes. The sonographer should have knowledge in diagnostic digital images and hemodynamic data for physician interpretation. Work closely with Cardiologist to obtain optimal echocardiography quality.

What We're Looking For

• Education: High School or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate from a formal Cardiovascular Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, preferred.
• Experience: One year, preferred.
• Licensure/Certification: Registered Cardiac Sonographer, credentials RDCS or RCS (New Graduates will have 6 months to pass registry), required.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required):

• Ability to effectively operate sonographic equipment.
• Ability to evaluate echocardiogram in order to acquire appropriate diagnostic information.
• Ability to shift workload to meet patient needs.
• Ability to use independent judgment to acquire the optimum echocardiogram information in each examination performed.
• Ability to follow established departmental procedures.
• Ability to work efficiently and cope with emergency situations.
• Must demonstrate thorough knowledge of echocardiography interpretation, echocardiography skills, and considerable echocardiography abilities.
• Communication skills and sensitivity to patient needs.
• Ability to interpret information to identify each patient’s requirements for care relative to his/her age specific needs.
