Job summary

St. Davids Round Rock Medical Center is seeking a Sonographer II to perform diagnostic echocardiography for inpatient and outpatient cases, including 2D/M-mode, Doppler, stress echo, TEE, and ECG. You will work with physicians, document results, and support day-to-day lab operations.

Qualifications include 2 years of Echo experience, BLS certification, and RDMS/RDCS/RVT/RCVS options. This role emphasizes clinical judgment, quality imaging, and patient care in a busy cardiovascular lab.

Qualifications

• Two years of clinical diagnostic Echo Sonographer evaluation experience.
• BLS Basic Life Support issued through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• One of the following: RDMS, RCVT, RVT or RDCS Certification.

Responsibilities

• Set up and perform all types of cardiac ultrasound and nuclear cardiology studies.
• Perform necessary measurements and calculations related to Echocardiograms.
• Document exams in logbook, prepare tracing for physician review, and enter charges in Meditech.
• Order supplies for Echo lab and coordinate day-to-day operations.
• Determine which tests to perform from referring physician when appropriate.
• Exercise independent judgement to modify tests as patient condition dictates.
• Participate in On-Call Program to ensure availability of a specialist PRN.
• Assess patient conditions prior to and during all exams.

Job Summary and Qualifications

The Sonographer II performs diagnostic testing on both inpatient and outpatient basis to include 2 D/M- Mode to cardiac Doppler, stress echo, contrast echo’s, cardiac stress testing, TEE’s, and ECG’s.

• Recognizes symptoms of cardiac arrest, respiratory distress and/or other impending crisis and initiates the necessary emergency response.
• Communicates with physicians and accepts verbal orders.
• Set up and performs all types of cardiac ultrasound and nuclear cardiology studies.
• Performs necessary measurements and calculations related to the result of the Echocardiogram.
• Documents exams in logbook, prepares exam tracing for physician review, and interprets and enters appropriate charge into Meditech.
• Orders supplies for Echo lab and coordinates day to day operations of lab.
• Determines which test(s) to perform from a referring physician when appropriate.
• Exercises independent judgement and decisions to modify tests as patient’s condition dictates to enhance the quality of information available to physicians.
• Participates in On-Call Program to assure availability of a specialist PRN.
• Assesses patient conditions prior to and during all exams.

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, or (RDCS) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, or (RCS) Registered Cardiac Sonographer
• Associate Degree, or Certificate, or Work Experience in lieu of Degree

2 years of clinical diagnostic Echo Sonographer evaluation experience
