Job summary

Mass General Brigham in Massachusetts is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform comprehensive echocardiography exams and support high-quality patient care. The role requires ARDMS/CCI credentials or equivalent, BLS, and an associate degree in sonography.

Onsite at 30 Locust Street with 40 weekly hours. Experience is preferred but not required for all qualifications; competitive hourly pay and comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Sonography preferred.
• AHA BLS certification required.
• RCS (CCI) or RDCS (ARDMS) required.
• Previous Cardiac Sonographer experience preferred.
• New Hampshire license required upon hire for NH locations if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound Exams – TTEs, TEE, Stress Echo, and related studies with diagnostic image acquisition.
• Assess and Prepare Patients for Procedures – review histories and prior imaging to ensure appropriate protocols and patient safety.
• Document and Communicate Findings – prepare preliminary reports and relay findings to physicians promptly.
• Maintain Safety, Quality, and Compliance – prepare rooms and equipment, follow infection control and privacy policies.
• Support Exceptional Patient Experiences – ensure patient comfort through proper positioning and technique.
• Contribute to Departmental Excellence – assist with scheduling, workflow, and productivity targets.
• Aid in student precepting as appropriate.

Job Summary

Starting rate: $42/hr

Responsibilities

1. Perform Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound Exams – Independently perform high‑quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), TEE Stress Echo, portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies while acquiring diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
2. Assess and Prepare Patients for Procedures – Review patient histories, prior imaging, and clinical information to ensure appropriate exam protocols and deliver safe, patient‑centered care. IV placement knowledge preferred but training will be provided.
3. Document and Communicate Findings – Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians in a timely manner.
4. Maintain Safety, Quality, and Compliance Standards – Prepare equipment and exam rooms, adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and comply with all privacy, departmental, and hospital policies.
5. Support Exceptional Patient Experiences – Utilize proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and a positive experience for patients and families.
6. Contribute to Departmental Excellence – Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities, assist with scheduling and workflow coordination, and meet established productivity and quality standards and other activities as required by department.
7. Aid in the participation of our students precepting as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Sonography preferred
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS required
• Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred
• New Hampshire locations: Medical Imaging License through the State of New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure & Certification (OPLC) required upon hire
