Cooley Dickinson Hospital seeks a skilled Cardiac Sonographer to join Mass General Brigham's imaging team at 30 Locust Street, Northampton, MA. The role performs comprehensive echocardiography including TTE, TEE, stress echo, and contrast studies for high-quality diagnostic images.

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Sonography is preferred.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Registration as Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or RDCS is required.
  • New Hampshire license may be required for NH locations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive cardiac ultrasound exams including TTE, TEE, stress echo, and contrast/bubble studies.
  • Review patient histories and imaging to ensure appropriate exam protocols and patient safety.
  • Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate findings to physicians promptly.
  • Maintain infection prevention, safety, and privacy compliance in the lab.
  • Support patient comfort and a positive experience during imaging.
  • Participate in quality improvement, scheduling, and productivity initiatives.
  • Assist with student precepting when appropriate.

Job Summary

Starting rate: $42/hr

  • 1.Perform Comprehensive Cardiac Ultrasound Exams
    Independently perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTEs), TEE Stress Echo, portable cardiac ultrasound studies, and contrast/bubble studies while acquiring diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
  • 2.Assess and Prepare Patients for Procedures
    Review patient histories, prior imaging, and clinical information to ensure appropriate exam protocols and deliver safe, patient-centered care. IV placement knowledge preferred but will provide training.
  • 3.Document and Communicate Findings
    Prepare accurate preliminary reports and communicate relevant findings to interpreting physicians in a timely manner.
  • 4.Maintain Safety, Quality, and Compliance Standards
    Prepare equipment and exam rooms, adhere to infection prevention and patient safety protocols, and comply with all privacy, departmental, and hospital policies.
  • 5.Support Exceptional Patient Experiences
    Utilize proper positioning and ergonomic scanning techniques to ensure patient comfort, safety, and a positive experience for patients and families.
  • 6.Contribute to Departmental Excellence
    Participate in quality improvement and accreditation activities, assist with scheduling and workflow coordination, and meet established productivity and quality standards and other activities as required by department.
  • 7.Aid in the participation of our students precepting as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in Sonography preferred
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) through CCI, or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) through ARDMS required
  • Previous experience as a Cardiac Sonographer preferred
  • New Hampshire locations: Medical Imaging License through the State of New Hampshire Office of Professional Licensure & Certification (OPLC) required upon hire
