Job summary

Exeter Hospital, part of Beth Israel Lahey Health, seeks a Per Diem Ultrasound Technologist for day shifts. The role involves performing two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings and Doppler studies for cardiac assessment, supporting physicians in diagnosis, and providing patient-centered care.

Requires post-secondary education, MIRT license, and RDCS or RCS certification within 18 months of hire; BLS within 90 days. Onsite position with opportunities for call.

Qualifications

• Post Secondary Education or equivalent, directly related to field.
• MIRT License or eligibility to obtain license within required timeframe.
• RCS or RDCS certification within 18 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to examination specifications.
• Explains procedure to patient and assists patient positioning.
• Discusses test results with Physician when indicated.
• Attaches electrical leads and monitors patient heart rhythm during imaging.
• Produces real-time cardiac ultrasound images and adjusts equipment for quality.
• Measures heart structures and blood flow velocities for interpretation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• RCS certified by CCI (Cardiovascular Credentialing International) or RDCS certified by ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) within 18 months of hire


• BLS Certified within 90 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.


• Explains process to patient; instructs and assists patient in assuming physical position for examination.


• Discusses test results with Physician when indicated.


• Attaches electrodes to patient’s chest to monitor heart rhythm and connects electrodes to electrode leads of ultrasound equipment.


• Produces images of real time tomographic cardiac anatomy and adjusts equipment to obtain quality images.


• Moves transducer over patient’s heart areas, observes ultrasound display screen and listens to Doppler signals to acquire data for measurement of blood flow velocities.


• Measures heart wall thickness and chamber sizes recorded or keys commands into computer to measure thickness and chamber sizes of heart and compares measurement to standard norms to identify abnormalities in the heart.


• Measures blood flow velocities and calculates data such as cardiac physiology and valve areas for evaluation of cardiac function by Physician.


• Performs other duties as assigned.
