• Completion of an accredited Cardiac Sonographer program.
• Eligibility to sit for the Registered Cardiac Sonographer designation.
• Registration as a Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic echocardiograms for outpatient and inpatient evaluations.
• Conduct transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures.
• Perform stress echocardiography and structural cardiac cases.
• Handle multiple modalities and case types, not just standard echocardiograms.
• Work under a Cardiologist and operate specialized ultrasound equipment.
• Travel to satellite locations as necessary.

Location: St. John Hospital Detroit

Schedule: Primary shift is 12:00pm-8:30pm, after hours, weekend and holiday call rotation

• Under the direction of a Cardiologist, performs diagnostic ultrasonic procedures for evaluation as prescribed by a physician.
• Requires knowledge and use of highly specialized equipment.
• Department staffs approximately 7 sonographers per day, 8 on structural days
• Processes 45 to 50 echocardiograms daily
• Role involves multiple modalities and case types rather than straight outpatient echocardiograms
• Perform echocardiograms for both outpatient and inpatient
• Conduct transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) procedures
• Perform stress echocardiography
• Execute structural cardiac cases

Qualifications

_ EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:_

• Completed requirements as a Cardiac Sonographer from accredited program.
• Must be eligible to sit for "Registered" Cardiac Sonographer designation from national accreditation board.
• Completed Cardiac Sonographer program and eligible for "Registry" certification.
• Registered Cardiac Sonographer in an established hospital non-invasive cardiac testing unit, preferred.

_ LICENSURES/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:_

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer within one year of hire.

_ PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:_

• Works in a patient care setting with occasional exposure to unpleasant patient care tasks. Daily interaction with family members and staff.
• Extensive walking, standing, lifting, pushing, and the like may be necessary.
• Occasional interaction with disgruntled/unsatisfied patients and families.
• Outside travel to satellite locations as necessary.
