Job summary

Cambridge Health Alliance is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer to perform a broad spectrum of non-invasive cardiovascular tests at CHA Cambridge Hospital. You will collect data, provide preliminary reports for physicians, and help ensure accurate diagnostic information.

The role includes rotating on-call duties on weekends/holidays, on-site work, and a full-time schedule. Eligibility requires an accredited Allied Health program and BLS certification, with prior clinical experience.

The Cardiovascular Department at Cambridge Health Alliance provides a full range of tests to evaluate the health of a patient's heart and blood vessels. As an Echocardiography Accredited Facility, the lab utilizes state-of-the-art equipment for services including Echocardiograms, Electrocardiograms (EKG), various stress tests, and vascular testing. The lab also offers Holter and Cardiac event monitors and runs a device clinic for in-person and remote checks on pacemakers, defibrillators, and loop recorders. These services are available at two locations, Cambridge Hospital and Everett Hospital.

Position Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer performs a broad spectrum of non-invasive cardiovascular tests to provide medical specialists with data for diagnostic purposes, including:

• Cardiovascular 2-D imaging, color flow, spectral display, continuous and pulsed wave Doppler
• Exercise/pharmacologic stress, harmonics and contrast imaging

Key Responsibilities

• Performs a wide range of cardiovascular non-invasive tests according to an established protocol, in a manner that effectively promotes and supports the efficient operation of the department.
• Recognizes adequate vs inadequate data collection, and prepares preliminary report in a form presentable for physician interpretation.
• Recognizes abnormalities and life threatening findings and reports to physician or nursing unit as indicated.
• Documents notification as part of Quality Improvement activities.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Education/Training: Accredited Allied Health Program, registry eligible
• Certifications: American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Healthcare Provider
• Work Experience: Previous clinical background required

Pay Range:

$43.27 - $65.15 per hour
