Job summary

UNM Hospital is seeking a Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiographer) to provide diagnostic ultrasound imaging of the heart and vessels under the supervision of a cardiology physician. The role supports the Cardiologist with imaging for neonate through geriatric patients in a technology-forward trauma setting.

Qualified candidates will have ARDMS certification within 1 year of hire, NM licensure at hire, and Allied Health education.

Qualifications

• Allied Health Accredited Program Graduate (Specialized Education Required)
• ARDMS certification required (Within 1 year of hire)
• New Mexico licensure (Needed at Hire)
• Experience in hospital or acute care setting preferred
• Strong patient care and communication skills

The Cardiac sonographer (Echocardiographer) functions as a healthcare provider who, working under the delegated authority of the supervising Cardiology physician, serves as a medical imaging professional providing clinically relevant information to assist the Cardiologist with the diagnosis and treatment of patients. The Cardiac Sonographer role and responsibilities include providing diagnostic medical sonography images of the heart, cardiac chambers, valves, and vessels. The Cardiac Sonographer activities are performed consistent with their education and training, and in accordance with facility policies and procedures and applicable professional standards. Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

Shift Differentials:

• Primarily staffing for Day shift.
