Job summary

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN is seeking a Cardiac Monitoring and Interpreting Technician (0.9 FTE) to provide surveillance, analysis and preliminary interpretation of patients' heart rhythms and related data at rest, during exercise and after medications.

The role involves operating monitoring devices, calibrating equipment, preparing patients, recording data and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Requires one of the following: High school diploma/GED with 1 year healthcare experience; or High school diploma/GED with 2 years customer service experience; or High school diploma/GED with CCT/CRAT graduate of certified ECG program; or a Bachelor’s degree.
• Direct patient care experience, or current enrollment in a nursing or health care program, preferred.
• Education aligned with a related health science field; experience in healthcare/residential care setting preferred.
• CRAT (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician) or CCT (Certified Cardiographic Technician) required within 1 year of hire.
• BLS certification required within 3 months of employment.
• There is a 12-month commitment to this position, which begins after the applicant obtains the CRAT/CCT.

Responsibilities

• Provide surveillance, analysis and preliminary interpretation of patients' heart rhythm patterns and physiological data.
• Provide direct patient care for diverse patient populations.
• Operate and troubleshoot monitoring/testing devices and systems; calibrate equipment.
• Prepare patients/equipment for testing, assess appropriate testing/monitoring needs, and educate patients.
• Record physiological data and preliminary interpretations in reporting systems; communicate abnormal findings to the team.
