Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin is seeking a Monitor Technician to monitor cardiac rhythms and support department operations. The role includes transcribing orders when CPOE/EMR is not available and ensuring tests are completed and records are prepared in the ER.

Qualifications include a high school diploma, a current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate, BLS, and at least six months of healthcare or Monitor Technician experience. The position is full-time and on site.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required for all new hires.
• Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
• Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician

Responsibilities

• Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors.
• Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR documentation system.
• Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done.
• Prepares and complies records in the ER.
• Orders supplies for the unit and completes daily patient charts.
• Assists nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as it does not distract from monitoring duties.
• May provide direct patient care under RN supervision if CNA certified and annual competency demonstrated.
