Prime Healthcare Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital in Chicago, IL is seeking a Monitor Tech for the Cardiac Telemetry department. This per diem day shift (7:00 a.m.

to 7:30 p.m.) position requires monitoring cardiac rhythms, transcribing orders when needed, and ensuring accurate documentation in charts and forms daily. The role supports nursing staff and may involve limited direct patient care under RN supervision if CNA competencies are demonstrated.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintained.
• BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintained.
• Six months healthcare or Monitor Technician experience.

Responsibilities

• Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors.
• Transcribes physician orders in absence of CPOE/EMR.
• Verifies labs and radiology tests ordered and done.
• Prepares and completes patient charts and necessary forms daily.
• May assist RN with indirect patient care if CNA duties are required and supervision is provided.

Overview

• Department:Cardiac Telemetry
• Schedule:Per Diem - Days. 7a-7:30p. Must work a minimum of 4 shifts every 4 weeks. 2 of 4 shifts must be on the weekends.
• Facility:Prime Healthcare Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital
• Location:2233 W. Division St. Chicago, IL

Responsibilities

The Monitor Tech is an unlicensed person who performs indirect care in the department setting. Monitors cardiac rhythms via direct cardiac monitors. Meets the communication needs of the department. Transcribes physician orders in the absence of CPOE and EMR clinical documentation system. Verifies that lab tests and radiology tests have been ordered and done. Prepares and complies records in the ER. Orders supplies for the unit and prepares and completes each patient's chart for necessary forms needed on a daily basis. Able to assist nursing staff with indirect patient care duties as long as the activity does not distract from primary responsibility for dysrhythmia monitoring. Note: May provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the RN within scope of Certified Nursing Assistant if 1) possesses active CNA certification; 2) demonstrates annual competency in CNA duties and skills and 3) is relieved of Monitor Technician duties during the time of assisting the RN.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for all new hires, effective April 2014.

2. Current Dysrhythmia Interpretation Certificate within 30 days of hire and maintain current

3. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current

4. Six months previous experience in Healthcare or as Monitor Technician

Pay Transparency

Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $22.45. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
