Job summary

Rush Oak Park Hospital is seeking a Clinical Exercise Physiologist to support the cardiology team with exercise physiology expertise, diagnostic testing, and personalized exercise prescriptions aimed at improving cardiovascular health and function.

The CEP will work with cardiologists, nurses and rehab specialists to ensure safe care, perform stress tests, educate patients and families on activity guidelines and contribute to clinical decision-making through data interpretation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Exercise Physiology or related field with experience in all aspects of exercise and pharmacological stress testing and cardiac rehab programs.
• Current BLS certification.
• Good interpersonal skills for proper communication.
• Self-Directed and independent.
• Computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs cardiac diagnostic stress testing, including treadmill, pharmacological, and nuclear stress testing and resting ECG.
• Assess level of patient care and any contraindications to diagnostic stress tests.
• Correctly performs resting and stress 12-lead ECG and documents abnormalities.
• Interprets rest and stress ECG findings and communicates results to physicians and staff.
• Contributes to safe, accurate exams within scope of practice and adheres to infection control.
• Uses EPIC and MERGE systems for reports and data entry.
• Maintains patient history, confidentiality and safety; collaborates with team to improve care.
