Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.
• Minimum of three years Cardiac RN experience in acute care or cardiology clinic.
• BLS required upon hire; ACLS required within 60 days of hire.
• Current unrestricted RN license; Cardiac certifications (CMC, CV-BC) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in cardiac–vascular treatments.
• Interprets data and responds to urgent situations to optimize patient care.
• Performs and interprets cardiac and vascular lab tests.
• Collaborates with cardiologists, surgeons, and other physicians in cardiovascular care.
• Documents entries in the medical record clearly and concisely.
• Prepares patients for visits and procedures.
• Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases and preventive measures.
• Administers medications per physician orders.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Full time (Monday - Friday, day shift), no nights, no on-call, no weekends, no holidays

The Registered Nurse Cardiovascular provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. The RN cardiovascular nurse possesses advanced knowledge and skill in cardiac nursing. Also, they will need to demonstrate critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in anticipation and planning for the care of the patient.

What you will do in this role:

Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac – vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heart attack and arrythmia

Interprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way that optimizes patient care and produces positive outcomes.

Performs and interprets various cardiac and vascular lab tests

Works closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of full range of cardiovascular conditions

Participates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as per clinic needs

Documents legible and concise entries in the medical record.

Performs appropriate patient preparation for each visit and/or procedure.

Educates patients on cardiovascular diseases, including but not limited to preventive measures

Assists in performing diagnostic tests such as ECG’s, EKG’s

Initiatives Holter and Event monitors

Interacts with the patients as well as their families pre and post treatment

Monitors the patient and their vitals, especially cardiovascular readings

Possesses knowledge of ACC/AHA guidelines related to heart failure

Provides general nursing care to patients as necessary for office treatment.

Responds to and refers to incoming telephone calls.

Posts tests and examination results.

Administers medications in accordance with physician orders.

What Qualifications you will need:

EDUCATION:

Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.

EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of three years Cardiac RN experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic setting required.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

BLS required upon hire

ACLS required within 60 days of hire

Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations

Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through American Association of Critical Care Nursing (AACN) preferred

Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV-BC) through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) preferred
