Qualifications

• Must be a cardiac surgical technician with experience in open heart surgery.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience required for new hires.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Experience in scrubbing procedures in various surgical specialties (e.g., ortho, neuro, ENT).
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize sterile instruments, supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Establish and maintain a sterile field throughout assigned cases.
• Pass instruments, supplies, and equipment to surgeons during procedures.
• Perform surgical counts according to patient safety protocols.
• Inspect instruments and equipment to ensure cleanliness, functionality, and sterility.
• Assist with operating room setup and turnover between cases.
• Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other perioperative staff.
• Support emergency and urgent surgical procedures as needed.
• Maintain accurate documentation related to surgical supplies and instruments.
