Job summary

Strong Memorial Hospital - URMC in Rochester, NY is seeking a Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist to support the cardiovascular OR team. The role involves 36 or 48-hour workweeks, rotation on day/evening shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.

Responsibilities include preparing instruments and supplies for CABG, TAVI and heart failure cases, scrubbing and circulating, maintaining sterile technique, and aiding with room turnover. NBSTSA certification or equivalent cardiac OR experience is required.

Qualifications

• Must have NBSTSA Certification or experience as Surgical Technologist within a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year or more, occurring within the four years immediately prior to January 2015.
• Two (2) years or recent experience in a cardiac OR
• Able to scrub and circulate

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical procedures and assist the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation.
• Maintain sterile technique, safe handling of sharps and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy.
• Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse.
