Job summary

A community hospital in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Cardiac Nurse Director to lead the CVICU and full nursing team. The unit has 55 beds total with CVICU accounting for 16 beds and about 50–60 RN staff when fully staffed.

Four full‑time charge nurses support scheduling and operations in a high‑acuity environment. Qualifications include BSN, MSN preferred, 3–5 years of clinical nursing and 2+ years in management, CVICU proficiency, and LVAD/ECMO/Open Heart/Impella/balloon pump experience.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in CVICU nursing.
• Must be able to work at the bedside when needed (staffing coverage).
• Required clinical skills include: ECMO, LVAD, Open Heart, Impella, Balloon Pumps.
• Candidates must have extensive cardiac background.
• Cannot come from a purely medical ICU without cardiac exposure.
• If strong in CVICU but lacking LVAD experience, this may be workable.

Responsibilities

Community hospital part of a system looking to bring on Cardiac Nurse Director! Bonus Incentive Program and Relocation!

• Hospital has 55 beds total, CVICU accounts for 16 beds.
• When fully staffed, approximately 50–60 employees, all RNs; no techs on unit.
• 4 full-time charge nurses, working 3×12s across different shifts.
• They handle initial scheduling balance, staff assignments, and many managerial tasks.
• Charge nurses are typically not in staffing because of high acuity.

Requirements:

• Must be proficient in CVICU nursing.
• Must be able to work at the bedside when needed (staffing coverage).
