Job summary

Emanate Health in Covina, CA seeks a Monitor Technician/Unit Secretary to observe and interpret patients' cardiac rhythms, relay variances to the RN, greet staff at the nurses' station, and transcribe orders. The role includes non-clinical admission, discharge and transfer tasks and organizing station activities.

You will handle medication handoffs from the pharmacy or tube station, assist with patient flow, and support the charge nurse.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; knowledge of medical terminology strongly preferred; EKG interpretation class required.
• Unit secretary experience preferred with excellent customer service skills.
• BLS certification required; Assaultive Behavior Training per AB508/SB1299 within 30 days of hire/transfer.
• If trained elsewhere, complete Emanate Health Workplace Violence online module within 30 days of hire/transfer.

Responsibilities

• Observe and interpret patients' cardiac rhythms and monitor alarms.
• Inform RN of variances to initiate patient examination.
• Greet staff at nurses' station and direct questions to appropriate staff.
• Transcribe medical orders.
• Perform unit-based non-clinical duties related to admission, discharge and transfer.
• Organize activities at the nurses' station.
• Accept patient medications from pharmacy or tube station and hand to the charge nurse or assigned nurse.
