Job summary

Lutheran Hospital of Indiana is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Coronary Intensive Care/Cardiac ICU (CIC). The unit is a 24-bed ICU focusing on extensive coronary and cardiac care along with general ICU patients.

The role includes night shifts (5p-5a) and requires 0–2 years of clinical nursing experience. Expect to perform critical care duties, assist during procedures, and participate in patient education and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or student rotations in an acute care setting.
• RN licensure required; state licensure or compact preferred.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Perform thorough patient assessments and document findings.
• Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects.
• Assist physicians during procedures within documented competency.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
• Respond to medical emergencies and participate in CPR/code team activities.
• Educate patients and families on conditions, treatment plans and discharge care.
• Adhere to infection control protocols and safety standards.
• Document patient care promptly in the medical record.
• Participate in audits, chart reviews, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Operate and manage critical care equipment (ventilators, monitors).
• In ICU settings, perform central lines management and advanced cardiac life support when needed.
