Job summary

ChristianaCare's Heart Failure Unit (5E) at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 36-bed post‑critical care cardiac unit. The role covers patients with complex heart failure, chest tubes, large-bore central lines, and external pacing wires.

Requires 1+ year RN experience; BSN preferred with commitment to BSN within three years. Full-time, day/midnight rotating schedule, 72 hours per pay, weekends/holidays as required.

Qualifications

• Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of hire
• At least one year of RN experience required
• Previous stepdown experience preferred
• Previous critical care experience preferred
• BLS required; ACLS preferred
• Delaware RN licensure or eligibility

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to high-acuity cardiac patients
• Perform advanced assessment and continuous hemodynamic monitoring
• Administer medications and educate patients and families
• Monitor chest tubes, central lines, and pacing wires and detect changes promptly

Skills

Commitment to BSN within 3 years

1+ year RN experience

ACLS preferred

BLS required

CCU/stepdown experience preferred

Education

BSN preferred

Delaware RN licensure or eligibility
